Permanent Carmine with greens is more interesting and gives a neutralised colour that goes towards violet and pink. I find it difficult to mix brown or mud with that combination. Cadmium Red with greens will give a warm gray that still has undertones of red. In terms of range that can be mixed from the included colour, it will depend on the colours included of course. Schmincke quality control is very exacting. The red and green mixtures can go very dark, but not reaching black. Schmincke has an extremely large and diverse selection of watercolors, and I found this brand extremely difficult to characterize.
